Learn to saw, solder, polish and complete some simple silver projects. Bring sketches of simple designs. Georgia will demonstrate simple rings, setting stones and patterns for 2 or 3 simple bracelets and / or earrings. There will be an emphasis on individual instruction. Additional materials fees will be charged for this class based on individual usage.

This class is designed to give an introduction to metal casting and steel welding as it is used in art. Students will create, from scratch, one or two original pieces in bronze or aluminum. An introductory lesson will also be given in welding. Students will learn oxyacetylene, MIG and Stick welding and how to perform basic fabrication. On Saturday October 18, we will pour the class’s molds. Friends and family are invited to watch. Class size is limited to 8. An additional materials fee up to $50 will be charged based on individual usage at the end of the class.
Sam Dowd is not a certified welder.

Beginning Wax Carving for Jewelry Casting

Carving a wax model is the primary skill needed to produce a ”Lost Wax” casting in
silver or gold. Through demonstration and hands on exercises students will learn how to
use the tools and techniques to produce a wax model. Jewelry design and function will
be discussed as well as a review of sources for production casting. The course will
include a casting demonstration. This class is suitable for a beginner or an intermediate
jeweler looking to expand their techniques. There will be a $15.00 material fee due at registration.

Create your own one-of-a-kind jewelry with Precious Metal Clay.  This is a finely powdered silver in an organic binder.  The product can be worked like clay (rolled, stamped, textured, carved) and when fired with a kiln or torch gives a .999 fine silver object.  In this exciting 3-day workshop you will learn all about silver metal clay and complete 5 projects covering diverse techniques.  Limit 15 students.

This two evening class will introduce the technique's of setting faceted gemstones in tube and flush mountings. Through demonstration and hands-on experience students will gain the knowledge and skills to use these techniques in their personal jewelry designs.
