During this class, students will learn techniques that emphasize the creation of forms on the potter’s wheel; cups, bowls and plates by learning to throw, trim, alter, pull handles, and simple decoration techniques to personalize your work. Students will have time to explore the art of glazing but are still encouraged to take additional classes to practice glazing.
Your class fee provides one bag of clay, firing and glazing.

Tenley Thompson is a ceramic and textile artist, photographer and owner of Jumping Jackalope Studios. She teaches throwing, handbuilding and photography classes at the Art Association. Tenleys work focuses on the wonders of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem and its inhabitants. Her background as a wildlife biologist inspires her depictions of the wildlife and landscapes of our valley.Tenley loves to bring new artists into the ceramics studio and feels strongly that anyone can learn to throw and handbuild in clay. It’s an ideal art form for everyone to learn and you can use the results in your own kitchen and home. Tenley's website
