In this beginning sewing class series, we will cover getting those dusty, unused sewing machine running again and the learn the basics of using them by making 3 projects.
-Week 1: Basics of using a sewing machine, oiling and cleaning them, different needles, different feet, etc.
-Week 2: Simple shopping tote with handles
-Week 3: Basic throw pillow cover with a side zipper closure
-Week 4: Small zip bags
Please bring your sewing machine, an iron and ironing table. The instructor will have a project kit available to purchase at the first class. Krista starting sewing at the ripe old age of 15 under the tutelage of a friend’s mother who showed her the basics. From there she went on to earn her BFA in fashion design from Columbus College of Art and Design. She has continued her training with various couture dressmakers and notable fiber artist. She has been sewing professionally since 2000, sewing professionally in the Jackson area since 2006, and in 2014 opened a brick and mortar sewing and tailoring shop Teton Tailoring and Haberdashery. Krista also has a small design line which has been shown at art shows all over the country including Jackson Hole, Chicago, New York City and Cherry Creek in Denver.
