Karl Hecksher is the founder, owner and director of K5 Editions LLC. He has been printing in a variety of media since receiving his B.F.A. from Antioch College in 1983. As the head printer at Prasada Press Inc. Hecksher spent the first three years after college collaborating with artists on stone and plate lithography while pursuing graduate courses in sculpture at the University Of Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1986, he moved to New York City and began printing editions at several major print studios. In 1987, Hecksher founded K5 Editions. The main purpose was to establish a more painterly approach to printmaking reflective of the individual artists touch. His entire focus as a printer is to make the print speak clearly and, most importantly, to express the artist’s intentions. Over two decades, he has worked with a broad spectrum of well-known, contemporary artists such as Chuck Close, Alex Katz, and Richard Estes, and his wood block prints of their works are in private and major public collections around the world. www.karlhecksher.com |
