John Byrne Cooke photographs by John Byrne Cooke
Artspace Loft Gallery: October 1- November 15, 2008

“In April 2005, I was privileged to photograph the dress rehearsals of Off Square Theatre Company’s production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman–starring Bob Berky as Willy Loman, and directed by Peter Lesnik–with the conscious goal of trying to evoke, in a collection of photographs, the emotional content of the play as it was performed by these actors, many of whom I knew, and some of whom I had acted with in productions by Off Square Theatre’s precursor, the Performing Arts Company of Jackson Hole.”

Artspace Main Gallery: November 7 - January 19, 2009
Opening Reception: Friday, November 7, 5:30pm

Paper Collection focuses on the characters of the
fashion world. Shannon Plumb, New York film and
video artist, portrays herself in the various roles of
model, photographer, magazine editor and fashionista.
She delves into concepts of visual beauty and the nature
of superficiality. Looking through a self-conscious lens of irony and naiveté, she chronicles both the cultural significance and the accompanying absurdity that prevail
in a world where surface and appearance are of the
utmost importance.
