The Art Association’s instructor Jina Kim, a native-born and trained Korean potter, shares a glimpse into the great ceramic tradition of her country. In this brief but highly informative class, Jina will cover the terminology, history, and the technique of making three different traditional pottery forms: a traditional tea bowl, the “moon jar,” and the Chosun dynasty white porcelain bowl. This class aims to educate the student as well as to continue to develop his or her throwing skills. The last night of class will include a glazing how-to and a Korean tea ceremony.
