About the Scholarship

The Harriet Minczeski Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a talented local high school senior who plans to pursue visual arts in college. Harriet Minczeski was an educator, interior designer, painter, and devoted member of the Art Association. She inspired people of all ages through her creativity, kindness, and passion for the arts. This scholarship was established by the Harris family to honor Harrietโ€™s life, legacy, and lasting influence on the community.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Be a local resident
  • Plan to major or pursue visual arts at an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrate artistic talent, dedication, and community involvement

Submission Process

  • Application Deadline: February 26, 2027
  • Essay Questions: Please answer both of the following questions in typed responses.
    • Essay 1 (approximately 500 words): Why do you want to pursue visual arts in college, and how do you envision using your artistic talents in the future?
    • Essay 2 (approximately 250 words): Harriet Minczeski was known for her creativity, generosity, and influence on others. Describe how you have used your art to inspire, teach, or positively impact others in your school or community.
  • Portfolio Submission: Please submit 5โ€“10 original works representing your artistic abilities.
    • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF, or link to an online portfolio
    • Each piece should include: Title, Medium, Date created, Brief description (optional)
  • Letter of Recommendation: Please include one letter of recommendation from a: Art teacher, instructor, mentor, or community arts leader
  • Application: Complete the form below to start your application
